Prescribed burns scheduled this week
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., Nov. 5, 2018, For Immediate Release —
Fire managers will be conducting prescribed burns starting Wednesday (Nov. 7) near Flagstaff and southwest of Clints Well as weather conditions dry out. Flagstaff Area Fire managers are planning to conduct a two-day 1,196-acre prescribed burn operation near Slate Mountain,
approximately 24 miles northwest of Flagstaff, starting Wednesday. Smoke will be evident to the surrounding community, motorists along U.S. Highway 180 in the Kendrick Park area and it is expected to disperse in an easterly direction. Smoke may settle in
low lying areas during the evening hours. If conditions allow, fire managers are also planning to conduct a 623-acre prescribed burn in the area
south of Marshall Lake before Friday. Smoke may impact the Lake Mary corridor, motorists on Lake Mary Road, Naval Observatory Telescope, Elk Park Meadows and Lake Mary Meadows communities. Clints Well Area Fire managers from the Mogollon Rim Ranger District plan to conduct a 65-acre prescribed burn about
3 miles southeast of Clints Well near Jones Crossing on Wednesday. Smoke will be visible to motorists on state Route 260 and smoke may settle during evening hours impacting C.C. Cragin Reservoir and low lying areas near the burn site. The public and media can get notifications of prescribed burns or any other activity happening on the
