Coconino National Forest offices closed on fee-free Thanksgiving Day
Flagstaff, Ariz., Nov. 22, 2016, For Immediate Release —
All Coconino National Forest offices and ranger stations will be closed on tomorrow in observance of Thanksgiving. Forest offices will resume regular business hours on Friday
(Nov. 24).
The Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest will waive fees associated with many recreation sites and amenities on Thanksgiving Day.
Fees will be waived for sites which are open, including the Honanki Heritage Site on Thanksgiving.
Palatki Heritage Site and V Bar V will be closed Thanksgiving day.
Areas not included in the fee waiver program are campgrounds and recreation sites managed under a concession contract,
including Grasshopper Point, Crescent Moon Ranch and West Fork (Call of the Canyon).
Fire personnel, law enforcement officers and recreation staff will be on duty during the holiday for the safety of forest visitors and to remind people to practice good campfire
safety and respect public lands by practicing Leave No Trace ethics.
NOTE: Only two Christmas tree permits are left at the Coconino National Forest Supervisor’s office for “Every Kid in the Park” pass holder and two additional Christmas tree permits
are also left at the Mogollon Rim Ranger District office for “Every Kid in the Park” pass holder.
