Joint firefighter reponse to two wildfires east of Winona
Flagstaff, Ariz., Oct. 13, 2017, For Immediate Release —
Firefighters from Coconino National Forest and Summit Fire Department are responding to two human-caused wildfires east of Winona currently.
Resources on scene of the 212 Fire immediately east of the Winona exit, north of Interstate 40, include
two Forest Service engines, two Summit Fire Department engines, a fuels crew, and a dozer—totaling approximately 40 personnel. The 212 Fire, located at about milepost 212 along I-40, is about 60 acres and the cause is under investigation. The area consists
of rolling hills with rocks and pinyon juniper. Winds are reported to be out of the southwest and pushing the fire and smoke toward the northeast. No structures are threatened at this time.
The Angell Fire, located approximately six miles directly east of the 212 Fire, was just reported at
about 2-4 acres and resources are currently responding. No structures are known to be threatened at this time in regards to this fire and the cause is under investigation.
