North Zone Pine Hollow Fire Update: Growth continues Fredonia, Ariz., July 21, 2017 — For Immediate Release.
Today North Zone firefighters, led by a Type IV Incident Commander, briefed North Kaibab District staff about current and expected fire behavior of the lightning-caused Pine Hollow wildfire. With less than one-foot flame lengths actively creeping along and consuming litter in all directions, immediate actions for crews were to identify containment lines while minimizing risk to firefighters and
providing the opportunity for the fire to spread naturally through the pine in a controlled manner that will benefit forest ecosystem health by removing heavy fuel accumulations within the vicinity of Little Mountain.
