Open house to discuss Northwest Revillagigedo Island to precede Friday Night Insight
KETCHIKAN, Alaska, Feb 8, 2017 – Ketchikan–Misty Fiords Ranger District resource specialists are holding an open house to discuss ideas
and opportunities for the Northwest Revillagigedo Island area. The event takes place on Friday, Feb. 10
from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
in the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center lobby. The
District is inviting the public to share their thoughts and ideas on topics from stream restoration to recreation enhancement.
The Friday Night Insight program will follow the open house, beginning at
6 p.m. in the
Southeast Alaska Discovery Center Theater. Tim Piazza, forester on the Tongass will discuss the forest management public input process.
The Southeast Alaska Discovery Center and exhibit halls are open Fridays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. this winter. Admission is free. Visitors are
welcome to enjoy the exhibits, purchase maps and America the Beautiful passes, and learn about the forest from an interpretive ranger. A variety of films exploring the natural and cultural history of Alaska will be played in the theater upon request until
5 p.m. The Southeast Alaska Discovery Center is located at 50 Main Street in Ketchikan.
