Fuller Fire Update: Fire break construction continues, closure remains in place
Saturday, August 6, 2016 Completion: 48% Acres: 14,541 Start Date: June 29, 2016 Cause: Lightning
Location: Point Imperial, N. Rim Grand Canyon NP
Total Personnel: 144
Fuels/Topography: Timber, grass, rugged terrain The management structure of the Fuller Fire has shifted from a Type 3 to a Type 4 with Aaron Fritzer taking over as Incident Commander. Incident management levels are typed on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the highest level of complexity
and 5 the lowest. Despite the change in management, personnel numbers have declined only slightly and the importance and amount work being done has not decreased.
Crews made good progress on cleanup efforts in all areas of the fire that were impacted by recent rains – as much as 4 inches during the past five days – and work continued to install a series of fire breaks along forest roads 219, 610
and 611. Today’s focus will be on the final stages of the wok along 610 as well as a substantial length of buffer left to complete along both sides of 219. There is a closure order is in place for the Kaibab National Forest. The boundary of this area closure starts east of Highway 67 at the junction of FR 610 and FR 611, heading northeast where the junction of FR611
and the North Canyon Trail intersect, continuing on the North Canyon Trail to the Trailhead on FR 631, then south on FR 631 to the junction with FR 445A, then northeast along FR 445A to the junction with FR 8910, then southeast along FR8910 to the Forest boundary
with Grand Canyon National Park and following this boundary south and west to FR 610 “This Order only affects National Forest System Lands.” For a map of the closure, click
