Fire managers on the Fuller Fire are strengthening containment lines on the west side of the fire. Selective thinning along Forest Roads 610 and 611 is intended to protect the DeMotte Park area from any fire encroachment from the Fuller Fire. As the lightning-started Fuller Fire slowly creeps west, firefighters plan to ignite along the 610 and 611 roads to create a buffer to protect infrastructure and heritage sites. This buffer will allow the Fuller Fire to burn naturally to the west without threatening the DeMotte Park area. With moisture and rain predicted over the weekend, fire managers feel confident that limited ignition operations will help protect infrastructure without contributing to any major fire spread. Smoke from ignition operations may be observed in the area. Thinning operations in the area will provide long term protection from future wildfires to those developed areas.
