Tusayan Ranger District Fire Update Tusayan, Ariz., July 13, 2016—For Immediate Release.
Containment of the Scott fire steadily increases as crews continue to monitor and mop up control lines. Two unburned pockets of green that remained present within interior of the fire perimeter were successfully ignited yesterday. This effective operation was
carried out in order to reduce long term smoke production and air quality impacts. Smoke from the burn can still be expected; however fire managers are confident that smoke production will begin to significantly decrease. More fire crews and personnel are
being released and made available for other fire assignments as the incident scales down. If driving near the area of the burn, please drive with extreme caution and be mindful of fire fighters working along the roads.
