Today, weather permitting, using both aerial and ground resources crews expect to treat an additional 980
acres inside the City Southeast project area. Previously, on Tuesday and Wednesday fire managers and crews successfully treated approximately 680 acres within the McCracken East project areas with a light to moderate smoke impact on the local community. Ignitions will likely continue
within McCracken project areas on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Fire managers have elected to move firing operations north of I-40 into the Kendrick prescribed burn project area for Friday, October 17, 2014. This decision is intended to benefit the City of Williams by alleviating smoke impact and to
support them during their Homecoming celebration activities. All prescribed fire activity is dependent on regional Forest Service approval, personnel availability, weather – including winds and ventilation, and approval from the ADEQ
