conditions. The piles consist primarily of small diameter tree trunks, small branches, twigs and needles. The goal of the pile burning is to remove fuels within the forest in order to lessen the potential intensities of future wildland fire events.
Specifically, fire crews plan to burn approximately 325 acres of existing piles near the intersection of Forest Service Road (FSR) 271 and FSR 206B, which is located near Stina Point.
All prescribed burning on the Kaibab National Forest is subject to approval by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and appropriate weather conditions. For additional information
on the Smoke Management Division of the ADEQ and to view prescribed burns authorized for any given day, visit http://www.azdeq.gov/environ/air/smoke/index.html.
