The small fire at the base of Mt Elden, named the Whip Fire, has not grown. It remains at less than an acre, and crews expect full containment within the next couple hours.

Crews responding to new fire at the base of Mt Elden

 

Flagstaff, Ariz. – Firefighters are responding to a new fire on the southeast base of Mount Elden, generally located north of the Flagstaff Ranger District office on Hwy 89. It is currently less than 1 acre, but will likely be noticeable from town. No additional information at this time.
