Seasonal campground closures under way

Flagstaff, AZ – As the camping season concludes, many campgrounds and day-use sites on the Coconino National Forest are closed for winter and cease to have services available such as water and toilets.

The public may continue to use campgrounds as long as the gate to the campground is not closed and the road to the campground remains open.  However, services will not be available and many forest roads close at different times during winter due to wet and snowy conditions.

Information about each campground can be found online at http://go.usa.gov/YezW (case sensitive), and drivers can check the status of the roads on the Coconino NF website (http://www.fs.usda.gov/coconino/) by clicking on “Districts Road Status” under the Quick Links column to the right of the page, or by contacting a Ranger Station.

For additional information, contact the following: Coconino National Forest Supervisor’s Office at 928-527-3600, Flagstaff Ranger Station at 928-526-0866, Blue Ridge Range Station at 928-477-2255, or the Red Rock Ranger Station at 928-203-7500.
