Kaibab National Forest To Implement Prescribed Burn Tomorrow Near Kendrick Mountain
WILLIAMS, Ariz. – Kaibab National Forest fire managers plan to implement the Kendrick Prescribed Fire tomorrow south of Kendrick Mountain near Newman Hill on the Williams Ranger District.
If appropriate conditions exist and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality approves the burn, crews plan to treat up to 600 acres in the area with prescribed fire. Managers expect smoke to rise and move to the northeast. Some smoke impacts are possible in Spring Valley and Pumpkin Center.
Crews will implement, monitor and patrol the burn to ensure it meets the goals and objectives outlined in the prescribed fire plan. Prescribed burns are used to improve forest health, reduce hazardous fuels, and return fire to a fire-adapted ecosystem.
