Hazy Conditions Around Williams
WILLIAMS, Ariz. – The Williams Dispatch Center has received numerous calls about hazy conditions around Williams this afternoon. The haze is due to smoke from the Whitewater Baldy Fire in New Mexico. According to the National Weather Service, smoke traveled southwest of the fire on the Gila National Forest yesterday and then moved across northern Arizona today. The lookouts on the Kaibab National Forest are still on duty and have not reported any new fires today. Given the high-pressure system firmly in place over Arizona, the smoky conditions may persist. More information on the Whitewater Baldy Fire is available at http://www.inciweb.org/incident/2870/. If you have any questions, please contact Punky Moore, Fire Information Officer, 928-635-5653.
