Forest Service Seeks Input on Proposed Facility and Parking Area at Young Life’s Lost Canyon Youth Camp Near Williams

WILLIAMS, Ariz. – The Kaibab National Forest is seeking public input on a proposed project to construct a facility and parking area at Young Life’s Lost Canyon Youth Camp about two miles south of Williams.

The Forest Service proposes to authorize the construction of guest lodge facilities on about two acres of National Forest System lands and issue a special use authorization for the facility for up to 10 years.

The two-acre site of the proposed project is located within the Northern Arizona Land Exchange.  Young Life is a participant in the land exchange and will continue to support the exchange process for the next three years.  If the exchange is not completed within that timeframe, Young Life will exercise the option within the Verde River Basin Partnership Congressional Act to independently pursue acquisition of the parcel.

Young Life’s Lost Canyon Youth Camp is an existing camp and conference facility on private land adjacent to the proposed location of the new lodge facilities.

For additional information on the proposed project, please visit the Kaibab National Forest website at http://fs.usda.gov/goto/kaibab/lost_canyon.

Comments should be submitted by Aug. 6 to Kaibab National Forest Supervisor’s Office, Attn: John Brown, Project Leader, 800 S. 6th St., Williams, AZ 86046; telephone (928) 635-8275; FAX (928) 635-8208; email comments-southwestern-kaibab@xxxxxxxxxx
