Prescribed fire plans for Thursday, October 15

Flagstaff, AZ – Burning on the Woody Ridge Project was postponed this morning so firefighters were available for the Freidlein Fire off Snowbowl Road.  Crews were able to contain the Freidlein Fire at 8 acres early this afternoon.

Pending favorable conditions, fire managers are planning prescribed fires on the following projects Thursday, October 15.
All prescribed fire activity is dependent on personnel availability, weather – including ventilation conditions, and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).

Woody Ridge Project – 340 acres approximately 8 miles southwest of Flagstaff off Woody Mountain Road, south of Rogers Lake. Smoke will be visible from Flagstaff and Bellemont, and should disperse to the southwest with the forecast winds. Residual smoke will settle in nearby canyons and drainages.
Blue Ridge Urban Interface (BRUI) Project – up to 800 acres approximately 11 miles northeast of Clint’s Well off Hwy 87, just northeast of the Blue Ridge Ranger Station. Smoke will disperse to the south. Some smoke may briefly impact Hwy 87 and the Blue Ridge Community.
