concerns and offers suggestions for minimizing smoke impacts to your family and home at the following website http://www.coconino.az.gov/health.aspx?id=6564.


OCTOBER 13 UPDATE:  Due to unfavorable conditions, all three prescribed burns planned for today have been canceled. Fire managers will re-evaluate conditions for burning later in the week.


Tentative prescribed fire plans for the week of October 12



Flagstaff, AZ
– Pending favorable conditions, fire managers are planning prescribed fires in the following projects October 13-16. In observance of Columbus Day, no prescribed fire activity will occur Monday, October 12.

All prescribed fire activity is dependent on personnel availability, weather – including ventilation conditions, and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).


Tuesday, Oct 13

Lake Mary Project
– up to 400 acres south of Lower Lake Mary and Lake Mary Meadows, off Forest Road 132.  Smoke will disperse with the forecast winds to the northeast. Some residual smoke may settle in the immediate area overnight.  

Woody Ridge Project
– 360 acres approximately 8 miles southwest of Flagstaff off Woody Mountain Road, south of Rogers Lake.  Smoke will be visible from Flagstaff and Bellemont, and should disperse to the northeast with the forecast winds. Residual smoke will settle in nearby canyons and drainages.

Blue Ridge Urban Interface (BRUI) Project
– 600 acres approximately 11 miles northeast of Clint’s Well off Hwy 87, just northeast of the Blue Ridge Ranger Station. Smoke will disperse to the south.

Lake Mary
BRUI
Fort Valley North of Flagstaff, off Snowbowl Road
East Side East Flagstaff, off Old Walnut Canyon Road
East Clear Creek Between Knoll Lake and Rim Road (FR300)
