WASHINGTON, Jan. 24, 2024 – Today, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will travel to Soperton, Georgia, where he will deliver the keynote address at the grand opening of LanzaJet Freedom Pines Fuels, the world’s first facility dedicated to the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from ethanol, which will help decarbonize the airline industry and combat climate change, while also opening a new and growing market for biofuels. The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to harnessing the potential of SAF to develop new economic opportunities for American producers, address the climate crisis, and power our aviation sector. Working in partnership with the Department of Energy and Department of Transportation, USDA has established the SAF Grand Challenge Roadmap to jumpstart the establishment and growth of this new industry.
