In Advance of this Week’s White House Tribal Nations Summit, USDA Principals to Hold Embargoed Press Call Announcing USDA Actions to Lift Up Food Sovereignty in Indian Country

WASHINGTON, D.C., Dec. 4, 2023 – On Tuesday, December 5, several U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) leaders will hold an embargoed press call to share landmark USDA actions to lift up tribal nation food sovereignty. The call precedes the White House Tribal Nations Summit, the highest-level government-to-government gathering between the United States government and the 574 federally recognized tribal nations. USDA principals will discuss innovative partnerships with tribes and tribal-serving organizations to make food production and nutrition programs more accessible to tribal nations and incorporate tribal priorities and values into USDA programs for Indian Country.  

 

The contents of the call and any materials sent in advance are embargoed until Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 5:00AM ET.
