Washington, D.C., October 24, 2023 – On Wednesday, October 25, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will hold a press call to announce new actions by USDA to create a more fair and competitive organic market for farmers, ranchers, and businesses, while providing consumers with more transparency about their purchases. During the call, Secretary Vilsack will be joined by USDA Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs Jenny Lester Moffitt, U.S. Representative Chellie Pingree (ME-01), and Chair of the National Organic Standards Board Nate Powell-Palm. This announcement supports USDA’s ongoing National Organic Program mission to protect the integrity of the USDA organic seal and maintain strong consumer confidence in the label.
