WASHINGTON, D.C., July 31, 2023 – Tomorrow, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will travel to Pullman, Washington, where he will participate in a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Plant Sciences Building on the grounds of Washington State University, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, focused on conducting research to help solve agricultural and environmental problems and support farmers and producers in the Pacific Northwest. The groundbreaking of this new research facility, which comes following USDA’s recent release of a comprehensive, forward-looking three-year science and research strategy, underscores the Department’s commitment to supporting cutting-edge scientific research and development that addresses the greatest agricultural challenges of our time. During the ceremony, Secretary Vilsack will be joined by U.S. Senator Patty Murray and U.S. Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers.
