USDA Invitation to Press Call Announcing Science-Driven Updates to Foods Provided Through WIC

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Good morning,

This email is off the record and for planning purposes only.

You are invited to join a press call with Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services Stacy Dean, where they will announce proposed changes to the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, known as WIC. The science-based revisions would strengthen WIC by ensuring it provides foods that reflect the latest nutrition science to support healthy eating and bright futures for participants. In September, the Biden-Harris Administration hosted the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health and released the National Strategy, which sets the country on a path to end hunger, enhance nutrition, and improve health outcomes. This announcement demonstrates the continuing commitment of USDA to achieve these objectives and make America a stronger, healthier nation.

The call will be on the record and take place today, November 17, at 2 PM ET. Any materials sent in advance are embargoed until Thursday, November 17, at 2 PM ET.

Please RSVP at press@xxxxxxxx.

Best,

Allan
