WASHINGTON, D.C., September 7, 2022 – On Friday, September 9, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will visit an elementary school in Washington, D.C. There, he will meet with students, school officials, and teachers, and highlight USDA’s ongoing work under the Biden-Harris Administration to ensure children have access to healthy and nutritious meals, as well as advance food and nutrition security for all Americans. The visit also comes ahead of the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, which will take place on September 28. The upcoming conference will bring people together to achieve the goal of ending hunger and reducing diet-related diseases in the U.S. by 2030 – all while reducing disparities among the communities who are impacted the most by these issues.
