WASHINGTON, D.C., July 22, 2022 – On July 27 and 28, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will travel to Sacramento, California and Reno, Nevada for a series of events highlighting the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to lowering costs for families and individuals while expanding economic opportunity for producers, as well as expanding access to high-speed broadband internet for individuals, schools, hospitals and businesses across the nation.
On July 27, Secretary Vilsack will be in Sacramento, CA, where he will make a major announcement with the state of California that will lower costs for those in need and support local farms by purchasing locally grown products that will be distributed to underserved communities throughout the state, and serve feeding programs, including food banks. The event will underscore the Administration’s ongoing, aggressive efforts to help mitigate the effects of inflation on American families to ensure they can keep healthy food on the table and support producers.
On July 28, Secretary Vilsack will be in Reno, NV for an event announcing significant investments in rural broadband in Nevada and nationwide. This announcement supports the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to provide all Americans access to reliable and affordable high-speed internet, and USDA’s ongoing investments in the ReConnect Loan and Grant Program, which provides funds for the costs of construction, improvement, or acquisition of facilities and equipment needed to provide broadband service in rural areas.
