WASHINGTON, July 8, 2022 – On Friday, July 15, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he will join U.S. Senator Bob Casey at a USDA Summer Food Service Program site to discuss ongoing efforts to ensure children have access to healthy and nutritious meals. This visit follows the Secretary’s announcement of nearly $1 billion in additional funding to schools to support the purchase of American-grown foods for their meal programs, and President Biden’s recent signing of the Keep Kids Fed Act, which provides extra resources for meal program operators to continue serving children through school year 2022-2023. Following the visit to the program site, Secretary Vilsack and Senator Casey will hold a media availability.
