Secretary Perdue to Host Virtual Alabama Farmers to Families Food Box Event TOMORROW
Secretary Perdue will be joined by Governor Kay Ivey, Representatives Robert Aderholt and Terri Sewell, and Commissioner of Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries Rick Pate
(Washington, D.C., June 8, 2020) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will join Governor Kay Ivey, U.S. Representatives Robert Aderholt and Terri Sewell, and Commissioner of Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries Rick Pate TOMORROW, Tuesday, June 9th at 3:30pm ET (2:30pm CT) to participate in a virtual Farmers to Families Food Box Event. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farmers to Families Food Box Program is partnering with regional and local distributors, whose workforces have been significantly impacted by the closure of many restaurants, hotels, and other food service entities, to purchase $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat and deliver boxes to Americans in need. USDA has distributed more than five million food boxes in support of American farmers and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
