Secretary Perdue to participate in USDA 1890 National Scholars’ Virtual Commencement Ceremony TODAY
(Washington, D.C., June 2, 2020) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will join U.S. Representative Sanford Bishop TODAY, Tuesday, June 2nd at 11:00am ET in a virtual commencement ceremony honoring the graduating USDA 1890 Scholars. Secretary Perdue, Director of USDA’s Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement Mike Beatty, Virginia State University President Dr. Makolla Abdullah and U.S. Representative Sanford Bishop will deliver remarks. The USDA 1890 National Scholars Program was established in 1992 as part of the partnership between the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the nineteen 1890 Land-Grant Universities. The program provides full tuition, fees, books, room and board to students pursuing degrees in agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or related academic disciplines.
