(Paradise, CA, November 26, 2018) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue and U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke will be in California TODAY, Monday, November 26th and Tuesday November 27th. On Monday, the Secretaries will attend a meeting with community leaders and tour Camp Fire damage in Paradise, California. On Tuesday, they will join Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Rickey "R.D." James north of Sacramento near the Funks Reservoir for an overview and update on the Sites Reservoir Project as well as an announcement on USDA funding for the project. Following the reservoir visit, the Secretaries and Assistant Secretary will tour Strain Ranches and hold a roundtable discussion with California producers.

Secretary Perdue, Secretary Zinke, U.S. Forest Service Chief Vicki Christiansen and U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa to attend a meeting with community leaders, Camp Fire survivors, and fire fighters working to stabilize the area. Following the meeting, the Secretaries will hold a media availability and partake in a driving tour to view damage to the city of Paradise.

Sites Reservoir Project Background:
The water storage announcement follows on President Donald J. Trump’s memo to promote a reliable supply and delivery of water out west. The Sites Reservoir Project will greatly help farmers and ranchers in the Sacramento Valley by increasing the stability and access to much-needed water supply. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is providing a $449,229,000 loan for the Maxwell Water Intertie (MWI), which is the largest Community Facilities direct loan in the history of the program. The MWI project will provide for the transfer of water between the Glenn Colusa Irrigation District (GCID) Main Canal and the Tehama-Colusa (TC) Canal, which will increase water supply resiliency and reliability for participating water agencies.
