USDA Announces National Mango Board Appointments

WASHINGTON, Oct. 16, 2018 - Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue today announced the appointment of six members to serve on the National Mango Board.

Members newly appointed to three-year terms are:

  • Clark Golden, New Jersey – Importer
  • N. Evelyn Sapp, Florida – Domestic Producer
  • Rodrigo Diaz, Mexico – Foreign Producer

Members re-appointed to three-year terms are:

  • Michael B. Warren, Florida – Importer
  • Patrick F. Dueire, Delaware – First Handler
  • Jacquie Abuhayar, Ecuador – Foreign Producer

“I truly appreciate the time and expertise these individuals will give guiding the National Mango Board in its mission to find ways to provide fresh mangos to U.S. consumers and help their industry thrive,” Perdue said.

The National Mango Board is comprised of 18 members, including eight importers, two domestic producers, one first handler and seven foreign producers. Board members are nominated by their industry and appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture. Members can serve up to two consecutive three-year terms.

Since 1966, Congress has authorized 22 industry-funded research and promotion boards to provide a framework for agricultural industries to pool resources and combine efforts to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets and conduct important research and promotion activities. The Agricultural Marketing Service provides oversight, paid for by industry assessments, which ensures fiscal accountability and program integrity.
