ADVISORY: Secretary Perdue in Washington and Alaska for Back to Our Roots Tour

(Washington, D.C., July 3, 2018) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will continue his fifth “Back to Our Roots” Tour in Washington TOMORROW, Wednesday, July 4th for a tour of the Port of Vancouver. On Thursday, July 5th, Secretary Perdue will join Senator Lisa Murkowski to conclude his tour in Alaska, where they will participate in a roundtable discussion and make various stops on Prince of Wales Island


TOMORROW, Wednesday, July 4th

WASHINGTON

Sec. Perdue Holds Roundtable Discussion and Tours the Port of Vancouver
WHAT: Sec. Perdue will visit the Port of Vancouver for a roundtable discussion then tour the facility. Following the tour, the Secretary will hold a media availability.
WHEN: TOMORROW, Wednesday, July 4th at 9:30 a.m. PDT
WHERE: Port of Vancouver, 3103 NW Lower River Rd, Vancouver, WA 98660
*NOTE: Media must arrive at the port offices by 9:00 a.m. PDT for a briefing and set up time prior to the roundtable discussion. If you plan to participate in the tour, wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather. Safety gear will be provided, and media will be escorted by port staff while on the marine terminal.

 

Thursday, July 5th

ALASKA

Sec. Perdue and Sen. Murkowski Participate in Prince of Wales Landscape Assessment Team Roundtable Luncheon
WHAT: Sec. Perdue and Sen. Murkowski will participate in a roundtable luncheon with community leaders on Prince of Wales Island to discuss landscape assessment and economic development on the island. Following the roundtable, the Secretary will hold a media availability.
WHEN: Thursday, July 5th at 12:00 p.m. AKDT

Sec. Perdue and Sen. Murkowski Tour Viking Lumber Company
WHAT: Sec. Perdue and Sen. Murkowski participate in a riding and walking tour of Viking Lumber Company. Following the tour, the Secretary will hold a media availability.

WHAT: Sec. Perdue and Sen. Murkowski will visit Old Growth Stand with USFS Silviculturist Sheila Spores. Following the visit, the Secretary will hold a media availability.
