ADVISORY: Secretary Perdue in California TOMORROW and THURSDAY
(Washington, D.C., February 27, 2018) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will be in California TOMORROW, Wednesday, February 28th and THURSDAY, March 1st. On Wednesday, the Secretary will deliver keynote remarks at the Commodity Classic and meet with the local U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service (USFS) rangers and employees to survey damage from the 2017 wildfire season. USFS Ranger David Dahlberg will be in attendance. On Thursday, the Secretary will return to the Commodity Classic to participate in a town hall.
WEDNESDAY, February 28th
Secretary Perdue to Speak at the Commodity Classic
WHAT: Secretary Perdue will deliver the keynote address at the General Session of the Commodity Classic. Immediately following his remarks, the Secretary will hold a media availability.
WHEN: TOMORROW, Wednesday, February 28th beginning at 9:15 a.m. PST
WHERE: Expo Floor Main Stage, Anaheim Convention Center, 800 West Katella Avenue, Anaheim, California 92802
*NOTE: The media availability will take place in Room 202 of the Anaheim Convention Center immediately following the Secretary’s speech.
Secretary Perdue to Join Working Lunch with USDA Forest Service Rangers and Employees
WHAT: Secretary Perdue will take part in a working lunch with local USFS Rangers and employees, including Ranger David Dahlberg, that will focus on the response efforts and the damage caused by the 2017 wildfire season as well as the issue with the way the USFS is funded. Currently, the agency is routinely borrowing money from fire prevention programs to combat ongoing wildfires. Media will be permitted to spray the top of the lunch meeting and the Secretary will have a press gaggle at the conclusion of the lunch.

Secretary Perdue to Survey December 2017 Creek Fire Damage
WHAT: Secretary Perdue will be guided on a driving tour of areas affected by the December 2017 Creek Fire with stops at key sites along the way. Immediately following the tour, the Secretary will hold a media availability.
