Secretaries Perdue and Zinke to Travel to Montana for On-Site Briefing on Wildfires

(Washington, D.C., August 23, 2017) – Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke will travel to Montana on Thursday, August 24, 2017 to receive an on-site briefing and assess the situation involving ongoing wildfires in the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies.  The visit to the region by the two Cabinet secretaries was requested by Sen. Steve Daines and Rep. Greg Gianforte, both of Montana.

Wildland firefighting is a partnership among local, state, and federal agencies, particularly the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture’s U.S. Forest Service.  Perdue and Zinke will inspect the on-the-ground operations and be available to the media afterward.
