Media Advisory No. 0101.15 Contact: Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to Announce New Investments in Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Florida to Receive $16 Million Grant Through USDA’s Biofuels Infrastructure Partnership WASHINGTON, Oct. 26, 2015 – On WEDNESDAY, Oct. 28, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will announce the recipients of competitive, matching federal grants to support infrastructure which will increase the delivery of renewable biofuels, giving American drivers more fuel options at the pump. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and other private partners are matching the federal grant at a more than 1:1 ratio, bringing the renewable energy investment to more than $38 million. This announcement is part of a broader USDA effort to help Americans save money on their energy bills, support America's clean energy economy, cut carbon pollution, and reduce dependence on foreign oil and costly fossil fuels. A typical gas pump delivers fuel with 10 percent ethanol, limiting the amount of renewable energy most consumers can purchase at their local gas station. Through ongoing investments, USDA will substantially increase the number of stations offering intermediate blends of ethanol, mainly E15 fuel levels, nationwide.
