Media Call: USDA and HHS to Deliver Results of President’s Food Safety Working Group

WASHINGTON, Dec. 21, 2011 – TODAY, in preparation for the holiday season, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Co-Chairs of President Obama’s Food Safety Working Group (FSWG), will deliver a progress report highlighting the group’s accomplishments and strategies, combined with useful information for consumers on safe food handling during the holidays. A full report highlighting the FSWG’s efforts to strengthen the food safety system and major next steps in 2012 and beyond will be released following the call.
Representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will be on hand to answer questions from reporters.
