USDA Official to Host Media Call to Announce New Rural Community Facilities Investments in Rural America

WASHINGTON, October 4, 2011– TODAY, USDA Housing and Community Facilities Programs Administrator for Rural Development Tammye Trevino will host a media call to announce investments in community facilities and infrastructure support across rural America.

Administrator Trevino will also discuss the importance of the American Jobs Act, which President Obama unveiled in September. The purpose of the American Jobs Act is simple: put more people back to work and put more money in the pockets of working Americans.  The American Jobs Act is specific, it will put people back to work right now and it won’t add to the deficit. Through a combination of direct spending, such as infrastructure investments, and tax relief, such as an extension of the payroll tax cuts, it will lead to new American jobs.

The states receiving support from USDA include: Alabama, Alaska,  American Samoa, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, West Virginia.
