WASHINGTON, July 26, 2011— TODAY, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will announce the establishment of four Biomass Crop Assistance Program (BCAP) project areas in California, Kansas, Montana, Oklahoma, Oregon and Washington. These project areas will set aside acres to grow non-food crops that will be processed into renewable energy to be used for heat, power, liquid biofuels, and bio-based products. According to industry estimates, these projects will create more than 3,400 jobs in the biorefinery, agriculture and supporting sectors, and produce more than 2 million gallons of biofuels annually when full production levels are achieved.
