Agriculture Deputy Secretary to Visit North Carolina to Discuss Rural Job Creation


WASHINGTON, August 5, 2010 – TODAY, Agriculture Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan will visit Dunn, N.C., to highlight rural job creation and successes of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Merrigan will be joined by Congressman Bob Etheridge at the Dunn Area Committee of 100, Inc., a recipient of a USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) to establish a revolving loan fund in Dunn, Harnett County N.C. and Candor, Montgomery County, N.C. 

The Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) program provides grants for rural projects that finance the development of small and emerging rural businesses, and to establish revolving loan fund programs.  Rural public entities (towns, communities, State agencies, and authorities), Indian tribes, and rural private non-profit corporations are eligible to apply for funding.
