Agriculture Secretary Vilsack to Announce New Broadband Investments in 38 States, Tribal Areas; Projects to Spur Job Creation in Rural Areas

 

WASHINGTON, Aug, 4, 2010 – TODAY, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will announce new Recovery Act broadband infrastructure projects that will create jobs and provide rural residents in 38 states and Native American tribal areas access to improved service that can expand economic, health care, educational and public safety services to underserved rural communities. The announcement is part of the second round of USDA broadband funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act).

 States benefiting from this announcement include: Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Maine, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
