USDA Leadership to Provide Media Briefing on Developments of USDA’s
‘Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food’ Initiative

    WASHINGTON, May 19, 2010 – TOMORROW, Thursday, May 20, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Agriculture Deputy Secretary Merrigan and key USDA staff will provide a media briefing on USDA’s ‘Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food’ initiative. They will discuss important projects underway including efforts to expand access to slaughter facilities and regional food distribution hubs, as well as the status of the Environmental Quality Incentives Program hoop house pilot program and the local foods component of USDA’s Business and Industry Loan Program.
