USDA FEATURES SUMMER CORN SALAD AND POLLINATORS AT WORKSHOPS THIS FRIDAY
WASHINGTON, Aug. 11, 2009 - This week's "Chef in the Garden" series features a summer corn salad prepared by the USDA kitchens. The "Chef in the Garden" series provides cooking demonstrations with your garden favorites.
And what do bees, butterflies, bats and hummingbirds all have in common? They are pollinators! Without these important creatures, gardens would not grow and flowers would not bloom. As part of the ongoing "Healthy Garden" workshop series, people can learn how they can create a pollinator-friendly garden to produce a bountiful harvest for all to enjoy on Aug. 14.
USDA is holding a "Healthy Garden" workshop series on the National Mall in 'The People's Garden' every Friday through Sept. 25. There are interactive demonstrations and information for area residents and tourists about practical gardening skills at any level. Each week will feature a different topic.
The "Healthy Garden" Workshop Series schedule and topics include:
