USDA ANNOUNCES CHUCK CONNER AS DINNER SPEAKER FOR FEBRUARY 21-22 AGRICULTURAL OUTLOOK FORUM

WASHINGTON, Feb. 20, 2008 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture today announced that Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Chuck Conner will deliver the dinner speech, "Farm Policy: USDA and Hill Perspectives," at USDA's 2008 Agricultural Outlook Forum, "Energizing Rural America in the Global Marketplace." Mr. Conner led the Department's review of more than 4,000 comments from producers that were used to develop a sound policy direction for the future of American agriculture," said Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer. "As the dinner speaker, Conner will share his astute viewpoints on the farm bill, which are widely recognized and well-respected."

The Forum will be held February 21-22, 2008, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. "We are fortunate to have more than 130 speakers this year," said Schafer. "We are bringing together agricultural leaders who have agreed to discuss the key issues, policy, and potential challenges surrounding energy and agriculture."

A full roster of Forum speakers and program are available at www.usda.gov/oce/forum. Attendees are invited to register in person at the Forum. Registration is $350.

Plenary speeches are Webcast after 3:30 p.m. EST on February 21st, with speech and PowerPoint presentations posted online at the end of each day's session. RFD-TV will also broadcast the plenary session live beginning at 8 a.m. EST on February 21st.
