I was installing trn 4 on a new machine last night and before I got started I updated my copy to the latest CVS version. After the update, I had a number of compilation problems in the s*.c files. They all seem to be easily correctable and related to updates in the screen handling code involving variable name changes. In general, it appears that changing 'FOO' to 'tc_FOO' solves the problem.
