Huh, it seems I didn't get the original post about the problem.

As a looooong time Debian user, and Trinity since TDE began, I'm very
curious about this as well.

The "desktop-base" package will show a conflict, but it is not a
problem. Let TDE install and it will work just fine.

The existing packages installed with Debian "desktop-base" will also
update just fine.
