You probably need file plugins or ioslaves (more likely the former) from
tdegraphics (PDF) and tdemultimedia (video). Try installing
tde-tdegraphics and tde-tdemultimedia .

thanks for the answer. I have installed "tde-tdegraphics" and
"tde-tdemultimedia". No working video thumbnails. pdf thumbnails are
working. I have also tested some other "*thumbnail"-packages. I wrote it
in the mail to nik.
