Hi New Jonesey,

You can have multiple desktops installed.

A login manager such as TDM allows you to select which desktop
to use when starting a new session. In TDM this is done via
the menu button at bottom right of the TDM login dialog box.

If you don't need or want multiple desktops installed it would
simplify your future life to remove those you don't need, although
removing an unwanted desktop is nowhere near as easy as not
installing it in the first place.
