I usually install using debootstrap. I'm not sure I want the immutable/ALP version that openSUSE > 16.x may be provided as. I used openSUSE only once may be in 2001. Later I saw openSUSE on commercial products. Moveing to Debian will require some relearning but IMO it pays off.
