Anyway, I'd suggest you make a clean install --> backup your /home/, blkdiscard /dev/sda, basic installation withour any DE, install TDE, configure TDE for your new user (do not copy the old /home), chown new_user /old/home, move over what ever you need - but stay away from the .trinity folder and any .dot-files you did not configure yourself. Last not: use devuan instead of debian, that will keep you clear of systemd madness.
