Out of curiosity, why would you run TDE applications under Plasma rather
than the other way around?

Here, I have to use some later KDE applications because they include
features not in existence when their TDE analogues were effectively
feature frozen -- digiKam, Gwenview, KDenLive. But on the one machine
where I have current KDE installed I've found no advantage to KDE and in
fact considerable complication with no corresponding benefit. So I am
genuinely curious as to the rationale for choosing the Plasma desktop with
TDE applications over the other way around.

(The reason I have Plasma running on one machine is that it's a special
case, a GPD Pocket, which despite many days of effort -- memorialized in
the archives of this list -- failed to run TDE reliably. I suspect but do
not know that it was a touchscreen issue.)
