You can check by calling `mount` (with no arguments) from the command
line. Look for your USB disk, it will show the disk type. (Probably

of course! didn't think. it's vfat.

maybe I'll sacrifice a usb stick and reformat it to test for the problem although Michael Calgaro has already reproduced the problem.
