For now I am subscribed to old and new and the news client is subscribed to gmane.comp.desktop.trinity.user and devel. I am still getting the news here probably via the wrapper that you set up. As this is mail based I would assume there is somewhere something configured to use the gmane server. Just visit https://admin.gmane.io/ and type Group=trinity, List=user, then follow the link (do the same for devel etc) . There is a button at the bottom "Request data update" - might be worth trying - looks promising.
